The structure of GY(F)TA optical fiber cable: 250um optical fibers are placed in loose tubes made of high modulus plastic. The loose tube is filled with waterproof filling compound. The center strength member is a steel wire or FRP (Fiber Reinforced Polymer), and for some optical cables with a number of cores, a layer of polyethylene (PE) needs to be extruded outside the steel wire or FRP. The loose tubes (and fillers) are stranded around the central strength component to form a compact circular core, and the gaps inside the cable core are filled with waterproof fillers. Then, a layer of APL (Aluminum Polyethylene Laminate) is longitudinally wrapped and extruded into a PE sheath to form a cable.
