Description
The structure of GYFTY (non-metallic reinforcement, loose tube twisted filling, polyethylene sheathed outdoor communication optical cable) optical cable is to sheath single-mode or multi-mode optical fibers into high modulus plastic, which is filled with loose waterproof compounds. The center of the cable core is a non-metallic reinforced core (FRP). For certain fiber optic cables, a layer of polyethylene (PE) is extruded outside the non-metallic reinforcement core, or non-metallic reinforcement yarn is added to the cable core. The loose tube (and filling rope) is wrapped around the center reinforcement core to form a compact circular cable core. The gaps in the cable core are filled with water blocking compounds and polyethylene sheaths.
